POSITION SUMMARY
NRDC India is hiring a Renewable Energy Specialist who will play an active role in advancing our work on clean energy and climate change domain in India. This role involves implementation and scaling of clean energy access at the local, state and national level. This role will also involve research, investigation, and analysis of various elements of India’s transition to a low-carbon, climate resilient economy. The Renewable Energy Specialist will also include direct engagement with partners, government officials, and stakeholders.
The position would also work on other project areas and provide research and analysis on other core elements of NRDC India initiatives, including but not limited to accelerating clean energy and energy access, energy efficiency and cooling, clean transportation, climate resilience and health and climate policy.

- Draft policy and technical research, analysis, and writings on climate change and clean energy in India and in the international context.
- Support on the groundwork on developing and implementing strategies to advance renewable energy work; including project management, stakeholder roundtables, policy development, technical research, analysis, and writing.
- Coordinate closely with national, state, and grassroot partners on overall strategy and implementation to deliver policy and technical assistance on issues related to clean energy.
- Monitor and assist with policy and market movement through roundtables, meetings, and analysis involving deep engagement with industry and business leaders in the clean energy space.
- Contribute to policy and technical assistance to partners; participating in weekly calls, roundtables, and site visits.
- Communicate and liaison internally through daily communication by phone, email and in-person to partners and colleagues internationally.
- International and domestic travel for meetings, conferences, and roundtables.

REQUIREMENTS Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in energy systems, renewable energy, energy policy, environmental studies, or equivalent related experience. Master’s degree is a plus.
- 3-5 years of previous relevant work experience in energy or environmental policy work in India.
- Experience in energy topics such as renewable energy, energy access, utilities, green hydrogen, green finance, climate change and relevant policy, finance, and legal issues.

- Demonstrated ability to manage projects involving multiple people and deliverables, and to perform or quickly learn new tasks, systems, and technologies.

- Strong project management skills, with the ability to coordinate multiple projects and shifting requests in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent organizational skills and interpersonal skills.
- High proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), in addition to knowledge of or ability to learn relevant industry and NRDC specific software and platforms.

- Ability to occasionally travel approximately 20% annually
