Chinmaya comes with 25 years of experience addressing multiple clean energy and sustainability topics at international, national, and sub-national levels. Prior to NRDC India, he was with the Institute for Sustainable Communities and Council on Energy Environment and Water. Prior to that he was the Chief of Programs at Shakti Sustainable Energy Foundation where he deployed an annual program budget of $12-15 million on grant awards to produce high impact energy transition results. 

Chinmaya has also worked with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and United Kingdom Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office where he led clean energy policy and program engagements with the Government of India and Indian state Governments. Additionally he spearheaded a South Asia wide regional clean energy cooperation program involving partnerships between entities from the United States, India, and South Asian countries at USAID.

Besides India, Chinmaya has conducted stakeholder engagements in Bangladesh, Bhutan, Germany, Nepal, the Netherlands, Norway, Spain, Sri Lanka, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, and the United States. His voluntary involvement includes serving on the Advisory Panel of the Momentum for Change initiative of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.

Chinmaya has a Post Graduate Diploma in Management from Xavier Institute of Management Bhubaneswar and a Bachelor’s in Science from Sambalpur University.
