Ritika Kapoor is a Science and Research Expert at Natural Resource Defense Council and specializes in understanding the science behind changing climate through scientific writing, data analysis and science-policy translation. At NRDC, she works with the Science Office as well as the India program in supporting their activities. She was a merit scholarship recipient at Euro-Mediterranean Centre for Climate Change (CMCC), Italy and completed her Ph.D. in Science and Management of Climate Change. Her research was focused on Heat Events in the Indian sub-continent and its implications on human health which was carried out in collaboration with University College London (UCL). Prior to her PhD, she worked with Centre for Environment Education (CEE) and was involved in their climate adaptation programs.
She completed her masters in Environmental Sciences from Fergusson College, Pune and her bachelors in biology from Hans Raj College, Delhi University. During her master's dissertation research at Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology (IITM) she published scientific papers on Indian Ocean warming and Indian Summer monsoon. She has also completed post graduate diploma in Environmental Law from NLSIU, Bengaluru. Ritika believes that science and policy need to go hand in hand in order to address some of the most pressing present-day problems.
