Sarwar has over five years of experience working in climate and energy policy with a focus on industrial decarbonisation in the Indian context. His work spans policy research, quantitative analysis, and transition planning for hard-to-abate sectors and circular economy systems. His areas of specialization include green steel transition, circular economy strategies, steel scrap availability, critical minerals recycling, e-waste management supply chains, and energy systems modelling using the Low Emissions Analysis Platform (LEAP).

He has worked extensively on industrial decarbonisation pathways, resource efficiency, and low-carbon technology transitions, particularly in sectors linked to heavy industry and material flows. He has also contributed to publications including policy briefs, working papers, and research reports, including work associated with critical minerals assessment under a NITI Aayog working group. His work combines analytical research with policy-oriented solutions to support sustainable industrial development and climate action.

Mohammad Sarwar Ali holds a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from Integral University and an M.Tech in Energy Sciences from Jamia Millia Islamia. His academic background provides a strong technical foundation in energy systems, sustainability, and climate policy analysis.
